About Mixie
I was conceived in Queens during the Summer of Sam. I grew up a rather strange girl and am still growing up a strange woman, which I adore.
I've always been a different kind of drum, and when it comes to my passions, they reflect that. Writing and singing since small years old, I have always been an artist but something was missing—drawing and painting. In my parents house was an enormous print of Guernica, my Mom's favorite; I would stare at it endlessly. My appreciation for art & history grew exponentially. The Met Museum hosted me within its hallowed walls weekly, practically; often adorned on my personage was a necklace of various, brightly colored "M" tags for years.
But I'm not an artist, I'm "just a writer." My plans included "Be the next JD Salinger." Could I possibly also follow my MC Escher dreams?
Well, life being what it is, I didn't visit my artistic aspirations to the fullest. One painting class in college was the most I'd taken, still yearning, still wishing I were like all my visual artist friends. In May '22, I finally picked up a pencil and haven't stopped since. I can happily say that I am a mixed media surrealist now. In Art and Life - I am all about the Mix. My mediums include watercolor, gouache, pastel, ink, charcoal, and graphite. I feel whole as an artist—I can make pictures to go with the shit I write now! I can even make my own book covers!
So, enjoy my journey! I do art to create Love, healing & to feel centered in this world.
I'm also a witch! All of my work reflects my spirituality and culture. In my non art life, I am an Ayurvedic Bruja, Massage Therapist, and Deathwife, as well as being an intuitive tarot reader. One day I’ll make my own deck (I swear).
